Hello, welcome to the musical section of my life! I’m Stephen, of Stephen’s Reason. In February, 2006 I released my first music CD, “Over the Edge of Innocence.” It contains my first 12 tunes in the order they were written. I’m currently working on my sophomore CD, tentatively named “Transitions.” Links to the song lyrics are in the titlebar above.
The first question I’m always asked is “What type of music is it?” I really don’t know, but I feel like it is closest to a category called Modern Folk. Let me know what you think!

I incorporate acoustic and electric guitar, sometimes viola, occasional trombone, a little native american flute, a bit of harmonica, and even a short whistle part. Also, various types of MIDI instruments: bass and a general drum set, and I even attempt piano and synth parts. Oh, and my vocals. There’s no consistency or promises on any of these. I put in whatever instruments “feel” right to me for the song.
Click here to visit CD Baby where you can hear snippets, decide what you think, and purchase a physical copy or high quality MP3 download of a CD if you’d like. Why is a physical CD $20? Because I print and burn each one by hand, and that takes quite a bit of time. My music is also available on iTunes, eMusic, GreatIndie, PayPlay, and many other digital outlets. On most of these you can purchase my tunes individually.

I always enjoy feedback. Send me a note and I’ll try to respond! Philosophically, my ultimate motive for creating my music is myself. I write tunes to capture feelings that I either want to re-live, or sometimes want to be glad I’m away from.
A tune is never completed, just abandoned.
