Resist -- Ever had a workplace romance? Me neither. Well, maybe once, but that was too long ago to count. This song is about that person with which you’ve been pushed into contact, and with whom you seem to have that perfect chemistry. And perfect biology. And perfect physics. And imperfect legal status.
Remembering Eva -- Another event from my distant past. I’ll leave it to you to ponder the genesis of the name.
Jacquie -- An actress from a small college near here with a tremendous drama department. I was watching her perform in a play, and it occurred to me that if she were to simply act as though she had a romantic interest in me, I couldn’t tell that she actually didn’t. And then it occurred to me - I wouldn’t care that she didn’t!
Mississippi Boy, Louisiana Girl -- I dated her in college. She had a mischievous smile that was fitting, and she could party me into the dirt. This is (a small part of) our story.
Since You’re Gone -- I can’t say very much about this song for fear of consequences. You’ll hear what I mean.
Cumberland -- Almost unknown, yet a beautiful and serene set of hiking trails in south central Tennessee.
All She Wants -- A woman who works herself into loneliness.
Red Dirt Road -- Ever feel like the life you have is too broken to fix, and it’s time to just drop everything and move on? Here you go.
Carla Doesn’t Care -- A hot summer night. The Freudian conflict of the id and the superego. The Thunder Road cul-de-sac at Candy’s Room.
3 4 Air -- The title was intended to be a multiple entendre: 3/4 time, 3 air instruments, and a 3 minute air. Unfortunately, I ran out of creativity before I ran out of time. Think Native American dirge.
Pretty in Profile -- A moment I captured in my mind. I didn’t personally know the subject, but I admired her.
Sense -- I’m not gonna say what this is about.
