Mississippi Boy, Louisiana Girl

Sept. 2003

Julie was a tall glass of sweet, southern tea.

She loved to take a risk, and she soon took me.

Her windjammer set, she would start to go,

Sometimes, against the way the wind would blow.

And anything can happen, in this whole world,

With a Mississippi boy, and a Louisiana girl.

Her chicory eyes would draw me in,

And it didn’t matter what she did then.

Kisses hot as Tabasco Sauce,

and Louisiana’s win was nobody’s loss.

‘Cause anything can happen, in this whole world,

With a Mississippi boy, and a Louisiana girl.

She met up with a roughneck on an offshore rig.

He made Mississippi not quite so big.

I could feel her slipping away,

And like sand in my hand she was gone one day.

‘Cause anything can happen, in this whole world,

With a Mississippi boy, and a Louisiana girl.

Well, I don’t know where she is, I don’t know what she’s done.

But I do know that she’s still having fun.

And I just hope she’ll think back and smile,

Remembering Mississippi, once in a while.

‘Cause anything can happen, in this whole world,

With a Mississippi boy, and a Louisiana girl.
