I Don't Care

Somebody once told me my clothes don’t match,

my hair’s not right - I’m not a catch.

My ride’s a little old and out of style,

my boots may have been an extra mile.

But I’ll raise another glass of “I don’t Care!”

That only makes me something rare.

I’ve earned what I got and I’m still proud

if I’m a little different from their crowd.

Boss doesn’t think I’m that great.

I don’t always shave, I get to work late.

He won’t rate me as number one,

but folks come back ‘cause the job gets done.

So I’ll throw another shot of “It’s Alright!”

There’s not a corporate ladder in my sight.

I’ve earned what I got and I’m still proud

if I’m a little different from that crowd.

There’s a cross to bear on the whisky road,

But you do what’s right when you know it’s gold.

A self-made man keeps remembering:

a promise to yourself is a sacred thing!

What’s yours is mine is what they say

as I watch society’s slow decay.

It’s not so easy to look the other way,

so what can get me through one more day?

Just a few milligrams of “It’s Okay.”

I won’t live that long anyway.

I’ve earned what I’ve got and I’m still proud

to be a little different from that crowd.
