Joy

The times when I’d fall down,

Shattered feelings scattered round,

Problems lay unsolved in a life that’s yet evolved.

Then I’d think back to that sweet first kiss.

Valentines, simple lines, compassionate bliss.

When I had Joy, wonderful Joy, glorious Joy.

Paths untaken, loves forsaken,

Healing once the heart awakens.

Turn the page and we’re seen

A poem at the site of the homecoming queen.

Memories flood of a life once lived.

Past addressed and forgived.

And there was Joy, wonderful Joy, glorious Joy.

Time has a way, it seems,

Of second chances at our dreams.

Hope, prepare the heart to share

A place in time and anywhere.

Lost and found, a pearl goes ‘round,

Fireworks eyes without a sound.

Telegraph line, a glass of wine,

Words entwine a friend of mine.

Careful words and words of care,

Believe in miracles if you dare.

And I have Joy, wonderful Joy, glorious Joy.
